About Me:
my name is ofer
painting and drawing since 4 years of age...painting on silk ...about 4 ~5 years now!
hello again to all...
i just realized that i miss one of question...some how i did not receiv the zahara mail !!!
i am very sorry for that... .. .
please feel free to contact me and if i could help...it will be my pleasure !
as for my works : i use 12mm , 16mm silk satin also habotai or cine silk.
i prefer working with javana ironing colors for wear item's (scarves , pillows , dress...)
as for painting's i use the jacquard green tag. the diffrent of javana and jacquard is the deepness strong bright colors in jacquard.
the javana are more pastels but easy to work with !
i paint and draw only on very tight cloth by pins...that way i can get the possibility as like the paper drawing.
i use only javana gutta for the outlines...let it to dry for about 2~5 hours.
try not put to much colors at ones...if i need dark colors i make them at first befor i start painting...some time i paint more then one in the same location...but the color wont expanded much into the silk. so it is little harder and take more time !
i try to work fast as i can and let the colors and the silk do the final resolt.
some time i use water and alcohol as well salt.
about the salt...i like to mix diffrent size of salt ...it give more result with diffrent shapes.
i think it is very important to keep clean befor i start work.this way i dont have any mistake.
also try not to think about the colors infront of me...just continu with the first idea...in side my head! that way i can work fast...if i wont work fast with the colors...there will bee more mistakes.because the colors spread and dry very quickly.
some time i use water before i paint...but it is very hard because of the water get dry before i reach the spot.so if i use some more water it will spread to the place i paint...and it will be a border line between the colors.if you like this lines it mybe fun...but i prefer to control this part...
as long i work fast i get the better result.
again ill be very happy to help ...

Hi Ofer
Thanks for your input. I got onto the Dharma site and also found people in Germany called Gerstaecker site www.gerstaecker.de who sell Javana. I will look up Dharma when I go to the States in September and am waiting for a quote from Gerstaecker as I cant read German so they have to translate for me. Thanks for you help hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Ofer
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I do not have a web cam or even a digital camera so I am not able to send any pics right now. I have also sold about everything I ever painted. I am not very organised on my laptop and only want to start painting again as soon as I manage to find some silk and the paints. I will be visiting USA in Aug/Sept and who knows I am sure they have a lot more on offer than here is sa. Where do you live. I live in Cape Town and have a pefrect view of the ocean and watching the whales breaching in summer I find the ocean very inspiring and soothing and I have the mountains around me in the distance. It is very beautiful here. Will try Dharma Trading thanks. Hope to chat again. Karen

hi ofer, you are very kind.after seeing your work i feel terribly humbled. i still need to learn so much more.i do hope you can help me.my biggest problem is with making fine lines with gutta/serti.every time i try, the gutta seems to spread and cover areas that i don't want covered.how do i over come this.i see in one of your pics that you are using javana gutta.is that not water based?PLEASE HELP.i would like to do finer outlines.thankyou.
