Every time I look one of your new pieces I think, "Oh! Now THIS is my favorite!" Another fantastic design! Could you please share what the color for your background is? It appears as silver on my screen. Thank you Lynn for sharing your gift with t...
Oh my goodness! Another Beauty! Your paintings are always so well planned and orchestrated! I love how the blue vase sits inside the bounds of the black edge...fabulous!
Yes it is possible to paint over previously steamed dye...it is called over-dying I believe (I may be wrong). Since this piece now has an owner who has framed and hung it...I no longer have to worry about the background! Whew! =] Thanks again for ...
Oh how I wish I could take credit for the line work on this scarf! It was actually a pre-gutta'd scarf (the gutta has been silk screened onto the scarf...easier said than done!). I bought it off of ebay a long time ago. It was one of my first piec...
The heart is amazing! If you are not happy with the background, is it possible to go back and over it with larger flames so the texture would show through?
Hi Robin - Well, we have a mutual admiration society going here. Thanks for all your generous compliments on my silks. I'm also self-taught and have been silk painting for a little over a year - like you, I'm totally hooked. You have a wonderful sense of color - I love the checkerboard piece with all the wild designs framing it --- fabulous color choices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you interested in learning more about silk painting?
yes
About Me:
I'm a self taught artist who discovered the magnificent world of silk painting in the late '90's while watching dancers float across the stage while using silk flags, banners and streamers. I was immediately enamored by the beauty and the flow of the silks and knew then I had to find out how to create such beauty!
After several years of self discovery (and lots of trial and error - not to mention the many books I read from cover to cover!) I finally felt confident enough to sell a few pieces of my artwork.
I have found silk painting to be the most inspiring of artistic genres I have ever experienced. Inspired by the works of others, I strive to try new techniques whenever I can.
Austin provides me (and many other artists) the environment to which I can be both creatively inspired and encouraged.
