Are you interested in learning more about silk painting?
yes
About Me:
I have been teaching Chinese Painting for 18 years in England, Spain and China - The Chinese started on silk - and I have gone back to it as the effects are so wonderful
I now live in Spain and run 4-5 day workshops for silk and Chinese painting - please see my website for details
WOW!! "Landscape" is breath taking!! Love it! Rayne. and "Erte 1" - I'm convinced anything that can be painted on paper or canvas, can be painted on silk - wonderful!
Thank you....i just went thru your work and they are all beautiful.i can see different styles(chinese influence too).I especially like the cranes on sized silk. Are they magic sizing? You certainly have good control ....the cranes are well painted and detailed. This speaks of experience....Thanks,Husna
Your work is beautiful.. May I ask you a question? When I work with the gutta resist, I have trouble getting it removed after finishing my work. It is not the water based kind. I have tried to wash it out but seem to have no luck with removing it.. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Lisa
Thank you for your comment, Rayne. Yes, I have yet to experiment more with some of what has already been posted (Karen's last suggestion) ~ and I saw that you had posted previously about a simple cornstarch/water mixture....is that traditionally what is used in Chinese brush painting ? Perhaps I should have gone through more posts...forgive me if I am repeating questions you have already answered. I am very drawn to your brush-painted flowers and their confident, gestural quality. You also have a great color sensibility.
Hi Rayne
The fish mosaic is wonderful - I can't believe it was done as a mosaic - it must have taken so long! A magnificent achievement! Good luck with your new one. Do you mean that you use the cornflower mix to fix the silk instead of steaming or to stop dyes moving too much on the silk? I am interested in learning as much as I can and trying out new things so would love instructions. Thank you!
Pauline
Hi Rayne
I also loved wysteria , peony and landscape but thought I should only leave a comment for one. I love chinese brush painting[though have never tried it] - I like the space that is left unfilled at the effect that space has on the painting.Wysteria and peony are so beautiful and I think the vibrant abstract quality of landscape is wonderful. I will visit your website!
