yes
About Me:
Started silk painting a year ago and I am forever hooked! I love the vibrancy of the dyes on the silk. I have some of my scarves for sale on the internet with mild success - always looking to improve myself as an artist and network and share with others.
Hey Laurie - I knew your silks looked familiar - I've been to your Etsy site!
I'm silksiren.etsy.com. Love your lobsters! (Do you know Morgan -morgansilks.etsy.com ? - think she lives in Richmond )
Welcome to SPGN - Lynn
If you click on the saltworks site, please go to the section that says bulk gourmet salts, grinder and mill salt, and there is a brand called Pure Ocean sea salt. They have fine and coarse salt. I use the coarse salt. I can't find this type of salt in the grocery stores here in Columbus, Ohio, so I purchase it online. Anyway as far as my other silk painting techniques, I like using H Dupont dyes because of their rich, intense colors. They are a little expensive but I purchase the 8oz size and use between 10 to 15 colors. I don't dilute my dyes a lot. I also like using Pebeo and Tinfix dyes. I don't care much for Jacquard silk dyes. For me the french brands work much better.
Hi Laurie! I use rock salt to get the big mottled effects and I also use Jacquard's silk salt and table salt for the smaller effects. I found a site called saltworks.us that sells really good coarse rock salt at under $12 for a 5 lb bag.
Hi from Sharon of Colors of Silk. Welcome to the Silk painting network. I hope that you will have fun here and meet a lot of nice and interesting people.
