I have just discovered a silk artist in the UK reproducing my work and claiming it as her own. Glynis Aherne of Bude Art Society seems to think that my creations are hers. Her site is http://www.budeart.co.uk/
I felt sorry for her too, maybe she will now have the courage to discover herself and in the process become art. I'm just glad it's over and all the parties involved were so helpful.
Hi Daniel,
I am writing to you from London. This happens all the time. Unfortunately. But YOU as the artist are always a step ahead. I had a webside and took it down because of that. I am mostly painting landscapes from my travels, taken by my camera.
So, who cares? It is just enoying. But, it gets even more enoying when you see greeting cards with your creation!
Your work is brilliant. Don't despair.

Hi Barbara:
Thanks for the wonderful note. I don't mind people using my work, they just need to mention that in fact they are reproducing it in their version, keeping the piece to the original title. You should not be hidden to the world, your artistic expression needs to be seen 24/7 by the whole world.
I agree with Christine - the work I do, even when inspired by other images, I don't keep the photo near by. I remember it in my head, the feeling, and re-interpret it into a sketch, and THEN paint.. although usually I just draw freehand with resist and go, go, go..
I am so sorry this has happened to you. Some people just can't find their inspiration, and I guess the fact that she is copying you is a really high compliment, right? Jean-Louis Mireault I couldn't agree more - you are the original artist and can create new work all day long.. copycats forever remain, just copycats (how sad!)
Hi Daniel. I just went to your website a few hours ago after reading this article. That's a shame for that lady in England to copy your work like that and say it's her own. It looks like she just took a xerox copy of your paintings and added her name to them. She didn't even bother to add any of her own elements. And she had the nerve to do more than one of your paintings. If you can afford it, you should sue her for blatant copyright infringement. Anyway, work is very beautiful and unique.
Thanks for the good words. To copy means you are doing something dead, there is no spark of warm love without the actual process that transforms feelings into expressions of art, and that is her loss. I've spent too many years in court rooms defending my fathers estate in St. Lucia. The legal system is all about lawyers stuffing extorted wealth into their pockets, I don't want to waste another second of this short beautiful existence in a room filled with blind greedy idiots. But other than that I expect to be copied and used, it's human nature, we can't just choose only the traits that appeal to us.
